Well, we have a TF with a Mk 7 and it's undoubtedly noise. :broon:

Stupid? I disagree but each to their own.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Didn't mean to cause offence it certainly wasn't intentional.
I used to love loud exhausts I had a straight through on my mk 2 vw scirrocco , it was that loud my mrs could hear me coming from around 7 miles away when she was in the garden .. But I was in my late teens and just thought it was awesome ,now I'm drawn towards a great note rather than just all out noise , I'm certainly not slagging off anyone or type of exhausts just my own tastes have changed over the last 9 or 10 years.

The cybox has gained a little bit more volume and the note of it is great in my opinion, really happy with it ... However I think my down pipe is blowing and it's over shadowing the noise of the backbox which sucks donkey balls!! It's ruining the driving experience for me to be honest , it's like a fuzzy air hissing noise that you can hear just underneath of the backbox note and just makes the car sound shite to be brutally honest.

I had noticed that all the wire meshing that goes around the flexy has all gone and the actual pipe looked in bad condition but didn't think it was blowing but now I'm certain it's that , that's causing my recent woes.

On the plus side I've found a company on the net called autobits.co.uk that are doing a stainless steel down pipe for 51 quid ,with fitting kit and next day delivery it's come to 67 quid which I'm happy with so should be with me by Monday / Tuesday so it's round 2 of rolling round under the back of the car next weekend and hopefully it'll all be done and dusted and I'll be able to finally get a video and sound clip of the cybox that I'm happy with (I'd recorded a few but that blowing noise just recked them)

Bare with me and I'll keep you all up dated with pictures and hopefully sound clips and videos next weekend :drive:

I bought a stainless one looked like this:

Advice if its definitely coming off cut it into two pieces.

If you have not cut off the three nuts and bolts on the downpipe side of the cat removing the downpipe with the help of a angle grinder is the way to go then you can remove your cat and everything and split the cat from the downpipe on the floor rather than stuck upside down like a fly stuck in jam.

All done!!
Very suprised how easy a job it was ...i was expecting the same hell of a job i had with the back box but it wasnt all of it simply unbolted with no issues and now sounds good with no shitty blowing noise...

More to come with pictures a little latter

Here's the new stainless pipe

Car up on ramps which was a total pain with it raining heavily the wheels just kept spinning

I soaked all the nuts last night in wd40 and again first thing this morning and to my amazement they all came off with no issues what so ever bonus!!
Anyway heres the old pipe removed

And next to the new one

Cat studs where in good shape so cleaned them up and copper greased them and all the new stainless nuts spun on perfectly

And finally all fitted up

Even the lambda sensor played ball and came out the old pipe trouble free
And now she's sounding healthy again , the flex was missing the wire mesh covering and on inspection had 4 splits in it hence the shitty blowing noise. On the whole I've had a productive morning and I'm happy with the outcome can't ask any more than that of her!!

I bought a Cyborg exhaust, ok it was for my VW T5, most impressed with the care that went into it, :yesnod:

from 3 silencers now only one, was hoping for a Subaru sound, alas not to be, it is nicely nosier inside the van but outside just a hint deeper,

I was depressed, but a nice Finish to the rear, that's lower and getting lower still soon.
(see I am a hooligan just older) Ken.
I haven’t lost my marbles they are in a bag somewhere

Seeing as how the Subaru has a horizontally opposed engine configuration, your not going to be able to copy the sound with an engine with a inline configuration.
