removed the engine cover today for the first time (that's another story) and found this part:



What is it for? Looks like a pressure sensor or similar.

And - more important - where should it be mounted?
Found it it laying in the 'compartment' below the seat belt unit, but not fixed in any way.

Is it connected via one of those small pipes to the inlet manifold? If so it's the control unit for the exhaust gas regulator valve on the standard offside tailpipe..

It's usually fixed on the inner offside wing and controls the flap in the original exhaust.

If it has a non standard exhaust you can remove that unit, as long as you block where the unit connects to the inlet manifold, otherwise you will get an induction (Vacuum) leak.
