Hi all,
We've had our TF for a couple of years now and loving it. We were introduced to MG ownership by our neighbours who have a '46 TC, a BGT and Midget. Their son bought a TF from a Peterborough garage who specialised in F and TFs so we headed up and did what everyone knows you should never do and went straight ahead bought a lovely red 160, along with hard top. The garage had replaced the head gasket with the upgraded kit, rail and water pump and gave us 12 month warranty.
It's been great fun and we've found that all the MG crowd are generally really friendly. Quite funny seeing the reaction from drivers of older "classic" MGs when we are out with our neighbours in convoy and we pass other MG classics - they wave at the neighbors and often ignore us! Which just makes us laugh!!
We've now been joined by our neighbour next door the other side who kept mentioning he liked our TF. He had a Porsche Boxter S, but moaned about the cost.... Next thing I knew he asked me to pop outside and showed me a pristine exact match to ours, only with very low miles. He'd got rid of the Boxter and said he felt the TF had the potential to be as much fun...but at a much lower cost for general running.
We are now stripping the car interior and preparing to de-rust the damage caused by water ingress from the heater intake, (if anyone can direct me to a good how to for this I'd be very grateful!) and adding sound deadening on all panels and a new interior as ours smells like a dog died there!
Hope everyone is having a great Bank Holiday!!
