Help/info regarding Type R engine conversion post 10 years 3 months ago #138346

Another long night Trawling the internet for all things MGTF related and i came across a post on the type r owners forum, regarding a MGTF type R engine conversion.

link: http://type-r-owners.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?75025-The-MG-TF-K20a-V-TEC-Project-Thread-(very-pic-heavy)

The post mentions a couple of names I recognised from TF forums. After happily reading through the post and looking forward to finding out how it all ended, the posts stop.

Can anyone give me anymore information on how it all ended.

did he finish the car?

did the car make it to FRL?

is the owner a member of this forum?

Whatever happened, hats off to this guy for all the work and time he put in, Its a real labor of love. Especially liked the pics of him sneaking parts of his stripped car into the roof space.

That car was broken after lots of problems with, among other things the drive shafts if I recall correctly. I think the shafts have to be custom made and one snapped on the first real test run.

Am just updating/tying up this thread for myself so everything is in one place. I came across his build on another forum website which has more detail than the previous link and indeed goes onto mention how the drive shafts snapped "[After all the work the day before, the one remaining part of the original conversion that I hadn't had to bin and change had now let me down!!! The MoT was cancelled and I got throughly drunk./i]. So for those who haven't seen this before, or have some time to kill:
