Ok a bit of an update.

Had a day off so put in a complete days work in on the TF. Fortunate to call the local scrapyard and they had a MGF and TF in. I am finding that these cars are fairly rare to come across for spares.

All dash bits bought and fitted from a scrapyard
Both door handles fitted and lock barrels transferred over (Pig of a job)
'Boot open' light on the dash repaired - was a faulty bonnet switch.
Gearknob fitted (Rover 25 one did the trick)
Central locking and deadlocking incident fixed.
Bad earth sorted so the car doesnt sound its horn when locked. Now flashes its hazards like a normal car!
Fanbelt bought.
Door cards refitted, interior cleaned with interior shampoo.
Fuel cap barrel repaired.

Went to replace / retighten fanbelt today but the alternator adjustment bracket was really corroded so unfortunately it snapped in two.

So I have opted to order one of these:

Has anyone used one of these before? The OEM part is dearer at about £32 inc VAT. This was stainless steel and looked far easier to adjust, but will see how I get on.

So far the car is still on axle stands, still have to find a spare alloy and tyre then hopefully it is ready for its MOT next Friday. Pictures and progress to follow!

This weekend I will be following the advice on ultimate MG...Finding my gear selection a bit vague.

http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DIY/gear_lever/index.htm

Also going to try to deep clean the convertible roof the best I can.

Pictures and progress to follow.

Total spend so far
£200 car
£24 handles and interior trim
40p number plate bolts
£10 fan belt
£22 adjuster kit
£6 T-cut

Cheers

Haven't used it but I have one of the alternator adjustors waiting to go on. Looks good enough quality & should make it easy enough to adjust the belt when fitted

Fitted one of those adjuster s, bought from the original chappie on ebay, Oilphiluk on here.
Have to say it does the job well and makes adjustment so much easier.

I see the kit now includes the longer bolts needed. :yesnod:
