MG Quiz
Strangely, having just read an article recently on JD, I could have sworn it was GP he worked with on the IFS, and Wiki says the same, no mention of Issigonis.
Anyway...apart from the obvious link with the K Series engines, name another model made by Lotus that used MG TF engines. Be warned, the question is not that simple. By TF I don't mean TF as we think of them...

Woulkd you accept the Mark V111 - 1954
In 1954, Chapman with Frank Costin, (an aeronautical aerodynamics engineer with De Havilland Aircraft Company) built the Mk 8 used a modified MG 1467cc engine and transmission.
I suppose you could argue that the Mark V1 was a precursor as it had mounting points for the MGTF engine (amongst others) but this was LARGELY a kit car - not a MAIN Lotus production car.

Here's Paul !
I just wanna go back to my room! I'm very confused, and I just need time to think things over!
I'm gonna answer your question Ted but I have things to do now.
I will have a go later on tonight if no one gets it.

Well done Martin, I apologise for my tardiness in not being here to adjudicate, I was indeed in the land of nod.

Apologies, just going back to the Y Type for a minute
In addition to the reply, kindly posted by David, I have several articles on the Y Type which all state the same;
"Gerald Palmer was responsible for body styling and, in essence he took a Morris Eight Series E four-door bodyshell in pressed steel, added a swept tail and rear wings, and also a front-end MG identity in the shape of the now well-known upright grille."
"The car would feature an independent front suspension layout designed by Alec Issigonis (famous for designing the Mini in 1959) and Jack Daniels (an MG Draughtsman). "
Further research has convinced me that for every reference to the Y Type designed by GP and JD you will find at least a dozen which state that it was AI and JD who worked on the independent front suspension.

Will check in the morning - MUST go to hmmm, what is it, ah, yes bed
Knew you would like that one, it is Hexagonal, not castellated, right hand UNC thread, measured across flats, but, but, its the NUT size i want, its imperial in fractions of an inche please (you remember those things) Sleep well and have a good game of golf.
Yes i have been savouring a single malt as a night cap :slapme:
I knew I had to leave something for you to have a go at me about hence the come on :woohoo:
I am NOT a mechanic - it has 8 threads, and is one of
1/4 - 28 UNC Plain Nuts
5/16 - 24 UNC Plain Nuts
3/8 - 24 UNC Plain Nuts
7/16 - 20 UNC Plain Nuts
1/2 - 20 UNC Plain Nuts
9/16 - 18 UNC Plain Nuts
5/8 - 18 UNC Plain Nuts
3/4 - 16 UNC Plain Nuts
7/8 - 14 UNC Plain Nuts
I go for 1/2 - 20 UNC Plain Nuts
Now I am PLAIN NUTS
NOW WHERE IS THE CURRENT QUESTION

This has sat here long enough and since I have very little idea of the answer I will get the ball rolling and possibly Mr Forgetful will give us a clue.
What links 1 & 2, initial thoughts? So a motorcycle with the initials MG or TF or LE or 500
Well I found the Puch 250 TF
I also found the Gilera LE500
After a lot of searching I eventually found the bike pictured in 2, the Velocette LE 200
So 1 & 2 both share the initial LE, but the LE stands for different things. In the case of the MG it is Limited Edition, in the case of the Velocette it stands for Little Engine.
I could find no MG link with the Velocette LE 200 apart from the initials LE
So I moved on to 2, 3, 4 & 5
5 Gave the clue as it was easy to trace, this MGB GT V8 was a demonstrator used by MG to try and sell it to police forces around the country.
Again I could find no link between it and the Velocette, but the colouring of the bike got me suspicious and it turns out that the Little Engine 200 was also a police motorcycle... coincidence?
A quick check on Police MG TC reveals a 1947 TC was in service with the Warwickshire Police. Too many coincidences, so I reckon the who is not a person at all but the Police?

Oh well done and yes the LE bit was solely to link the Velocette into the question as MG and YES they all were used by the Police as you so eruditely explained. Was that you on the Gilera ?
Oh and by the way, as you have "over egged" the answer WHAT are we going to leave for Brian?
Over to you Paul - I hope the audience bucks up a bit otherwise we will be a very small band of brothers!! :hugs:
