Does anyone know if there is a successful way of papering over wood chip ?
I have a dining room that I want to put leather tiling on a roll up, but it's wood chipped, and if I strip it knowing my luck it will need re plastering !
Is there any special adhesive that can be used ?
Thanks

As far as I know, it's strip the woodchip or skim over.
And that's why it's almost universally disliked. I think only artex is worse to deal with!

It's possible to get it to adhere but it will not give a good finish. Not worth doing a botch job in your living room. Strip the wood chip, patch up any cracks. You wouldn't do a botch job on Madam would you? Do you value your house less than her?

Strip it, put up a lining paper and then add your outer to that.

Leather walls eh.

Thanks guys, not the answers I wanted, but what I expected :(

And yes I hate it
The whole house has it :slapme:
I tried disguising with velvet, then suede paint, but that did not work, so guess I have to strip it :bang:

We inherited a lot of woodchip.which had been painted over several times. I got it off by going over it with a wire brush then painting with water and leaving it to soak , and repeat, then scraping off. It was effective, but not fast.
Luckily J likes Artex as we have lots of that.

Stan ours is the same, I think in the one room it could stand up on it's own :pinch:
I was going to get a wallpaper steamer :-?
However after your post I think it might be too thick for that :(
I can see me giving up on that room and getting a man that can in :coat:

Jan, Strip the woodchip first!!! Hire a steamer, score the face with a stanley knife and it will fall off :yesnod: then cross line the wall with a good lining paper and then hang your leather tiling on a roll, use the correct adhesive too.
Even if you know a good plasterer the woodchip has to come off first.

What does this woodchip stuff look like? The mental picture I have drawn is not a good one, big chips of work glued to the wall :nonod:
