What a jolly good idea not seen these before or I would have already fitted them back when I had a few pennies to spare. Wonder why the kit comes with shocks are they an different to standard (in shape and length) I already have adjustable shocks fitted.

The price of around £750 sounds a lot but compared to upgrade kits for other cars its not that bad.

I had a shufty round the net and found the fitting instructions for this kit that may be useful extra info http://www.ukmgparts.com/PDFs/bgf7004.pdf

The Dampers are part of the SUPLEX kit and cant be bought without them, they strongly advise against using other shocks. the kit has been designed as a "whole" :yesnod:

Thanks for that pdf of the instructions! That saves me copying them and posting. :broon:

Indeed, Suplex insist that the whole kit is fitted together, they even prohibit using the kit with lowering pins as this takes the dampers outside their effective working range.

Apparently, the Springs are progressive, so that lower means stiffer.

They state that using these kits on a Trophy, and setting up in the above manner will set the suspension height in the range for Trophy spec.
I can only think that the difference in stiffness between the Trophy hydragas and the Suplex setups will be very noticeable.ie much softer/compliant. This will mean a much more comfortable ride but it will be totally subjective as to how the Trophy owner reacts to this.

Hummm I can't think of any tech reason why this would not work fine with adjustable shocks after a bit of a play with the settings but I can image that the standard shocks would need replacing and I guess the instant result would be better fitted as a full kit.

So, one day later and I am not a happy bunny. :nonod:

I can't adjust the fronts up to the height I want. They are on full adjust and the height is 345mm. At that, the springs are under no tension and rattle like f... flip over every bump.

I am going to take the fronts off and put the spacer back on the pin. I hope that sorts it, or I may go critical and explode.
Now it's got me wondering if I have lowering pins fitted, so once the first can is off again its time to measure the pin.

HELL AND DAMNATION!

So far I have found :- 1/ that I have standard pins.
2/.That you need the spacer to achieve a suspension height over 350mm

OK front adjusted to 350mm (with the spacer).
Rears adjusted to 345mm.

Everything back together and took the car for a test drive, and...

:woohoo: :woo2:

Thunderbirds Are Go! :broon:

So far the ride is much more forgiving, yet still sporty. Cornering gives no more roll than before. Deals with our uneven country roads with definitely less spine jarring than the previous hydragas setup, and takes speed bumps in its stride.

I'll report again when we've put a few hundred miles on the car. :yesnod:

I've amended my instructions to include my findings regarding the spacer and added information about lowering pins.
