It says it's a BU5 on the plate :coat:

The number BU51 HYK was first registered on the 10th of October 2001 showing as a 1796cc petrol White MG.

The TF was first released in 2002 so the number must have been previously registered to another vehicle or borrowed just for the promotion.

I can assure you this is the old white mgtf reg Oct 2001. It is the same car, it is the prototype mgtf. It has carried the same number plate all its life. I have the complete documented history of the car. It is old English white and was sprinted under the mg team spirit initiative. It is believed to be the third of the prototypes built. It has only had 2 owners both of whom I know and has been a road registered sprint car all its life

Hi Howie,

She's a bute; I am not disputing the the registration or date at all, it's just that when you say that the press release was in 2003; it was assuming that it was it was her first debut, but obviously she had already been around for a couple of years at that time.

Any idea if either of the other 2 prototypes are still around.

You have a real piece of TF heritage history, it would be great if you could post some of that history and any images.

Brian.

Love the old English white. Not sure about the MG decal overkill. Of the time though I guess.
Personal opinion.:hugs:
Not usually a fan of stripes but they sorta appeal with that flare-out over the front bumper.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

One to cherish as it is bound to significantly appreciate in value, that is just as long as you have a thick wad of provenance to back it all up.

Just like the car itself im sure they have both matured with age, just like a fine wine.

And what a stunner of a car. Looks like it has been well looked after :yesnod:
