I did some consultancy work at Huntstown power station near Dublin a few years ago. First time in Ireland. Lovely people. Lovely Guinness.

Temple Bar pubs in Dublin. Legendary. People with banjos, guitars and drums like off of holiday adverts. Joined in at invitation. Got back to hotel at 5 am. :broon:
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

and that's not only a holiday ad cliché but real life, even more in the local village pubs.

I love Ireland. I was in Cork and Killarney last May. Had a very good time. Though I missed one thing; The Irish aren't really up to driving classic cars nor roadsters, maybe because the roadster is a British invention? Haven't seen any MG or other that week.... You're a lonestar Bertl ?

the weather... 11 months/year closed roof driving. Autumn and winter are not 'crispy cold but sunny' but only wet wet wet. Spring and summer last two weeks each.

i know at least three more F/TF in my area. But they never wave when we meet... :nonod:

And there is a vivid classic car scene - but they don't drive but show them on meets only...

So, it rains for @ 48 weeks of the year and drips off the trees for the other 4!

Why else would you spend so much time in the pub socialising.

I've many friends over there in NI and loved it so much when we lived in Lisburn that we almost stayed. Lovely country, lovely people. :)

When I worked for Rover I went over to guard the 400 series on it's pre-launch introduction to the NI and Ireland dealerships. Had a brilliant time both up and down the place. Courtesy of the firm, me and my colleague stayed in the best hotels, primarily due to the cars being showcased there.

When the curtain went up, to show the car off, I chuckled at some of the comments "Would you believe that. It's a car after all."

I guess you had to be there.
