Vehicule enquiry: Is this MGF sold in France? 9 years 7 months ago #149857

You wouldn't have to register a trailer that small.

A light trailer (or caravan) does not need to be registered to be allowed on public roads in Victoria if it:

* weighs less (tare mass) than 200kg unladen
* is not wider than the towing vehicle as produced by the manufacturer
* is 3 metres or less in length, including the draw-bar and any load
* is not built specifically to carry a boat
* is not used for business purposes.

Exempt trailers must display the same registration number as the towing vehicle or you can purchase an exempt trailer plate.

You can still choose to register your trailer, even if it is exempt. In many other states, including NSW and South Australia, all trailers must be registered. If you intend to tow your trailer interstate, it is recommended that you register it in Victoria before you travel.

It's been a long while since I've had a boat (although I must of had nearly 20 of the money pits over the years ) so I can't say how much registration costs are, but only power vessels need to be registered.

We also pay a lot less for fuel than you lot.
Average prices as of Sunday 07/09/14.
A$1.50 (£0.87) a litre for diesel
A$1.33 (£0.77) a litre for E10
A$1.35 (£0.78) a litre for unleaded
A$1.46 (£0.85) a litre for premium

I think I'll put up with the higher fuel prices etc and you can keep the searing heat, crocodiles, giant poisonous spiders etc.

At least when we get floods it's only crap and twigs that floats through the streets, and not reptilian biting machines and giant snakes......

And just 'cos we used to send our convicts there, you didn't have to start sending 'em back, eg Rolf Harris. ;)
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

A simple visit to the DREAL in your area with a photocopy of the V5C
!!!!!!!! A simple visit !!!!!!!!!!!!
% Here, it's a exhausting fight to get a COC this way......
Might be easy in some "départements",not in Bourgogne!
They told it could last months, & that requires a blank CT report (no advisory)
.... & a full UTAC check in some case (2000€)....
So I never came back to them since 12 2010.

Unless you have changed anything I doubt the status of the car has changed.

Contact DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA.

It is illegal for a police office to check the data base for personal use so even if there was one on the forum they couldn't check for you.

Lawyers and insurance clerks have no more access to the information than you do using the links posted in this thread and your other thread.

Unless you or the previous owner have changed anything this car will still be registered in the UK.

Well, I don't ask anyone to tell the truth, but where to ask?
I'm french & even have a real mess since 1999 with an unpaid TALBOT Horizon... & for sure I won't tell the Queen for that rotten britsh green F !

Not sure I'm right now the new owner just because I gave some cash for it when the chap came from Dagenham to his Mum's french home........
I PAID BUT NOT BOUGHT, as HE DIDN'T SELL (<= UNSIGNED V5 seller's box)

CLEAR?

This guy may have sent the part left on page 2 (section 11 ?????) to the DVLA.......?????????!!!!!!!.
Would my name appear somewhere?
He was so quick (in his mind) than the french reg documents (for the Préfecture that gives the new FRA plate number - not cheap = nearly your annual TAX we have no more) were never provided....
although we kept in touch. Until I received insults telling him the car doesn't resell.
His exploit on Facebook:

In the UK the V5 is NOT proof of ownership!

If you purchased the car from the owner, then you are the new owner! Simple.

The V5 indicates the "registered Keeper".

Owner and registered keeper are not the same!!!!

I would suggest you contact the DVLA and explain your situation, and tell them that the car is in your possession, and has been permanently exported.
DVLA will make checks with the "registered Keeper" and unless he objects the DVLA records will be corrected.

If you need any additional documentation giving you as registered keeper, and permanent export, ask DVLA. I dont know if they can do this though!

I find it safer when purchasing a car to ask seller to fill in their details, then you take whole document and post back to DVLA, as too many times the registered keeper looses interest after selling car and doesnt send off their part of the documents!

Menu - you need to contact DVLA - you have been told this several times and been given contact details - until you have done this there is nothing anyone can do to help.

_____________
If seller didn't give the bill of sale (required to get french reg)
if the V5 seller's box isn't signed (required to get french reg)
if he didn't give signed french Préfecture documents (required to get french reg)
...I may only be by now renting his car!
having the job to fix the car (mechanic work to be rewarded) until seller go to a french MOT center to be sure the car is EXPORT WORTHY.

I hate this rotten car (because I got a 2003 TF 5 yrs younger, with a decent subframe.
By the way I had to get the MGF head recon (400€), I can't anymore send the car to a scrapyard...
The convertible requires a complementary vehicle where I can sleep some nights in it, & sorry I had a try in the TF, by a rainy weather. Awful!
Needing a ZT-T 135:

DVLA:
I went to this some years ago, as far as I can remember, without result, but sent them a new message yesterday, as James tells me.
Not sure to get an answer back...
Will I come back to UK to collect an estate driving back the MGF to its homeland?

<<Thank you for your email received on 24/3/15.
I have checked our records where there is no notification received to notify that this vehicle has been exported from the UK.
So we may update our records you may write to: Exports DVLA Swansea SA99 1BD >>

Well, unless someones gets it registred in France, it may lay in this state (my french reg TF has export marker set as YES

&
