Do you have or have you fitted the remote prt kit? Mine takes much longer to warm up now.

I haven't fitted one and don't believe its been done. The car was pretty basic when i bought it.

I have the PRRT fitted also and I can't say I've noticed any change in warm up time. :nonod:

I do know when there was a surge of retro-fitting the PRRT there was a lot of units piped up incorrectly and that gave rise to heat up problems.

The correct fitting of the pipework doesn't look logical. I have a photo somewhere.

Got the thermostat and changed it today. car heats up nice and hot and the temp gauge is straight up to the right place. When i removed the thermostat someone had completely cut the middle of it out leaving just the housing. was a nightmare job and i nacked it on the first go. i tried to leave the pipes in which go to the left of the housing but it was far easier in the second attempt just to remove all the pipes, put the thermostat housing in an then re fit the metal pipes. 1st go took 2.5hours the second go with the pipes removed took 40 minutes including removing and putting the pipes back in. At least its done and it was well worth it.
heat heat heat yuuuuuup.

A result! Well done - great feeling when you can fix things yourself.

Just check that you haven't had a PRRT retrofitted. They fit a cut down thermostat flange in place of the original when fitting a pressure relief remote thermostat housing. It is normally fitted between the engine and the underfloor pipes and is usually visible through the nearside rear wheel arch.

Thanks. It actually says it on one of the pics but maybe I should add it to the text as well if it'll help. Glad you fixed your problem. :broon:
