Inlet Gasket Replacement. 12 years 2 months ago #36632

friday was nice so got the roof down on the astra (ok here come the jokes)




sue (my wife ) says the f smells funny my relpy ok ill have a look some time

so after work i get a txt mark thiers steam pooring out of the car ( the F)

i look up to the sky oh bla bla ect





so get home and the F has steam coming from the back i go in my shed to have a play with some carbon wrap in discust with the F






i go in have dinner and set about a laptop for a freind (new one to be set up )

a bit more carbon wrap





SAT 8.30 am take the hard roof of the F







unfold the soft roof







hmm how can i open this up withought cracking the plastic rear window
ah i know heat gun :broon:







god its cold -3 on tha astra dash and still ice on the F






a few swear words as im getting colder
ok all pannels off now lets see the damage



oh bleep bleep bleep that dont look good :omg:





mad about cars and bikes :)
if it aint broke dont fix it :)

oh bleeeeeeeeeep no no not HGF

err lets have a look





phew close one butt still not sure so off to get new inlet gasket god its cold astra dash say ice warning +3





so finaly strip the inlet off and the gasket is shot grrrrrrrrrrrrr



so now sand side of head to clean mating surface and fit new gasket





re assemble the car



a bit more of the car put back on also ran up to temp and no leaks horay happy chapie time




forgot to take any more photos as to cold so i washed the F hoping she would be better behaved



so quick spririted drive to deliver the new laptop




after setting up the laptop time to go home via a nice twisty road at + national RED LINE lol

i forgot what the leds looked like i just converted sues car and never looked at night that was 2 years ago lol




a little trick i forgot the switches turn blue when switched on good eh :broon:




sue and my self have been talking about the F iffunds where not as tight we would keep the F for weekends and sunday drives
and get sue a newish car something like a trigra now way the ka yuck but could be a 207 convertable just have to see what the bike sells for and how the bank ballance is in march april
so one f cols be for sale or kept
my drive today i realy enjoyed it fell in love a little bit but cost of repair frightens me but as a spair car then that dont count

by the way 1 former owner 50k miles serviced every year and a full set of calipers discs and pads lat year

-5C is a normal day time high this time of year but our winter thus far has unseasonably warm. We have had more days at +5 than -5. I am fortunate though, I do have a heater garage to work on the F in.
