Are the marks from hood dye maybe from a previous attempt to clean it up? That stuff sticks like glue to paintwork! Try some metallic T-Cut and see if it comes off.

UPDATE !!!

I have bought a hardtop, see pic, I think it looks great ( i would have bought a black, silver or blue depending on which came up first, was close enough and price)
( also I can highly recommend driving the A507 from the A10!!)
now I have to put in a circuit for the heated rear screen, has anyone hear done that ??
From what I can see the different layouts make it difficult to buy the right bits !
I think ours is a MK2 ??
has anyone done a guide ??

@ talkingcars I bought some clay (eBay £5) on your advise, WOW it just lifts the spots out, with out sticking them to the clay,
very weird stuff if you've never used it, cleans really well, but leaves a big mess !!!!

@ leigh Ping I was stressing about changing the clock as it looks broken but have just seen your YouTube clip with biro...awesome !!
thanks for that !!

Fish around in the rear by the passenger seat and you'll find the loom for the heated window.

Your car is Definatly a tf so mk2 or tf switch will fit or try a freelander one as there the same.

All you need is a relay and switch, the lead will be behind the switch panel in your centre consol.

Oh...... Get the hard top off!!! Summers here!! :broon:

where the staff were obnoxious to rude......took it to local independent who looked at it straight away but couldn't get computer to communicate with car :bat:

:welcome2:

Next step is to buy an OBD2 reader off ebay. Then you can reset the light after checking the fault codes.
You can buy a plug in one or get a bluetooth unit that sends the info to your smart phone using an app called Torque

Thanks David,

but if the one in the garage won't communicate I really doubt these will......

is this a problem others have had ??

Most garage systems have problems communicating with the MGs obd for some reason. My mechanic has a £4000 system that won't read my MG. I have the ones I highlighted and they both work with no problem at all, much to my mechanic's disgust, ;)

It is a common problem with theses cars. But any mk2 F and all TFs will connect with those cheap readers.
Mk1 Fs are more problematic.

David I hate you !!
I'm just not going to die a rich man !!

if our car wasn't in near concourse condition I would be planing to rip out dash & install 10" tablet....

you say you have both...
do they have different roles ??
one site I have just looked at said the cheap B/T ones aren't reliable,
have you had yours long ??

For the benefit of any F owners reading this thread, the early mk2 F still uses MEMS, so these cheap readers will not work (I have a W reg Mk2).

Thanks guy's for all the help,
my OBD2 reader came & after a bit of faffing about ( not pushing it hard enough in to socket !!)
I have removed warning light from dash ( lambada sensor loop error ??)

I now also have a project of fitting a 7" tablet in the passenger airbag blank (maybe use tablet as hifi, so also remove hifi & install cubby......)
has anyone put a pc/tablet in there mg ??
