It looks like the NAS version of the Freelander 1 (2.5 l V6) has a different EMS than in Europe. The European one appears to be EMS2000, whereas the one for the North American version is an MS43.
Is this an EMS that PSCAN can eventually add? My check engine light has come on, but is likely only an emission issue as the vehicle runs fine.
I can take it to the garage to have the error codes read, but it would be nice to be able to eventually have an update for the MS43 if possible so I can do it myself (and save $$$).
Many thanks.

The problem is that there are no MS43 equipped Freelanders here in the UK for us to work on.
Maybe you could help to source a used MS43 ECU for us?
For some strange reason if I just attempt to buy one direct from an American breakers yard (or indeed anything from USA) the postal costs are crippling and then I get charged import duties on the item and the postal costs.
If you could get one locally and send it to us then we could get it working.

In fact the ideal thing would be if we could get an engine ECU, EWS immobiliser and key all from the same vehicle.
Maybe there are lots of rusted out Freelanders in Canada?

I’ll see what I can do. I usually visit the UK every couple of years. Perhaps I can deliver those items from a wrecked Freelander next time I am in the UK. It’s not urgent. I appreciate you willing to consider adding the MS43 to PSCAN. I’ll let you know when a next visit to the UK is pending.
Cheers,

When I am over in the spring I can bring over the ECU/EMS and Key from one that I have for spares.

Just to be clear, I am quite happy to pay for ECUs (well reasonable amounts). The problem is that ordering stuff from NA and having it shipped seems to make it about three times as expensive. So if you can find a engine ECU, Immo and key for reasonable money and bring it over to the UK then that would be much appreciated. My understanding is that the ECU, immo and key are very much linked together and probably not easily reprogrammed so a matched set might be a lot more useful. Thanks.

I think John is thinking that he will bring you a matching set from a parts Freelander that he has when he is next in the UK.
John, please correct me if I misunderstood.

sorry I hadn't appreciated that you were offering to lend me ECUs instead of source used ones.

Yes this also works well for me and would be very much appreciated.
