So the time has come to be a MPV owner.
The TF has gone and been replaced by this....

02 reg SEAT Alhambra 1.9TDI

The Good:
So far excellent MPG done 100 miles + and needle has not moved.
Massive, all the seats in the back come out so can be used as a van. All full size seats too.
Lots of storage spaces etc.
FSH just had cambelt done, new tyres & 12 month MOT
Has a tow-bar (dont know why i need one but might as well have it )
Cheap to insure, tax and run

The not so good:
Need a few tinker jobs.
Bodged DIY tinted window film in the back.
Boot trim is off its clip (man was honest and said he took it to the dumpit so probably rammed too much stuff in it).
heated rear screen is a bit temperamental.
Spare wheel carrier thing has broken so need to get a replacement from the scrappy.
Front passenger door is a bit iffy, think it needs tightening up / new handle
Some say the mileage is high, nearly at 170k. Doesn't bother me tbh.
Wheel trims are knackered.
Only one key fob.
Could do with a wet vac valet.
Some of the interior trim is showing its age.

So I need to go to a nice VAG forum for a bit now folks, I'm not leaving here but I need to get some advice from Ze Germans.

Currently on the hunt for a Haynes manual, the galaxy 1.9TDI manual is the same i've been told. I've asked Graham if he can get me the software from his work with all the manuals on :)

Anyone any experience of these? :-? Apparently you can have them chipped for even more MPG. I'm on the hunt for service parts. :hgf:

Not my cup of tea but looks to be the business for transporting your twins and all their bits and bobs.

How Manu cup holders? I can see two in the console.

My mate had a Kia Sedona and there were masses in that

Cup holders are dotted about. Lookes at KIAs but loads had a few 'issues' if the fuel pump goes it takes the engine with it by chucking metal particles into the engine so you don't know till its happened.

That's why there's loads for sale when there out of warranty and are uber cheap

The Alhambra / Sharan / Galaxy is a decent car. The 1.9TDi is a great engine too. OK it looks like a black bus but then that's what you need right now!

We had the VW version at work as a run about a few years back and the only issue we had was having to dismanle the wheel liner and take the wheel off to change the headlight bulb!

Oh and if you have a lower passenger front wishbone lurking in your MG bits then I need one pretty urgent ..... HUGE hole found in Felix's one!

No probs - off to eBay I go... LOL

For value for money you can't beat the Seat - trim is nice and sturdy and the space is enourmous... plus to be honest it's ultimately resellable later on if you upkeep it well! That diesel will go on for 250K + easily.

That's a smart family bus that Ben.
All the room you'll be needing for all the stuff young 'uns bring with them.
Roof rails too - so your Roof box won't be going to waste :drive:
