I must be an eternal optimist, but my pal Adam found one - if anyone knows of one or has one hanging around, please PM me.

Never seen one myself, but I lead to believe that they’re not the best design, more of an afterthought, as well as taking up what would otherwise be useful space. A rare commodity in our cars..

Having said tha, I’d love to see one, if only to see for myself if they deserve the reputation they have.

The hood can be raised from the driver's seat in five seconds and lowered in two. The electric system will raise it in about thirty seconds six times before jamming and twisting the hood frame into unusability which is why you don't see them. The hood design is quite brilliant. It is quiet, dry and durable. The only things that go wrong with it are that the centre bow needs a bit of elastic to pull it back when the straps get old and the window gets old and cracks. The best money to spend on the hood is to put in a heated glass rear window. The power option is wisely left alone.

And it weighs considerably more than getting out of the car & operating the roof by hand.

You do not have to get out of the car to either raise or lower the roof.

The added attraction of the powered roof is all the extra shit to go wrong, hours and hours of fun to be had buggerising about with all that lot!

Fitted my power kit to my old F and now my TF. Never had a problemn with it. Works like a dream and much quicker than I was lead to believe it was before I fitted it.
Definitely wouldn't be without it now. Just need to get the TF back on the road now in the Spring.

Getting out of the car to raise or lower the roof is a prerequisite for me, I’m obviously a lot less flexible than those who can shift it sat down.

I bought one when they first came out early 2000s. Had it for 20-odd years. Reliable and after many years finally sorted out the 'bendy' arms.

Worth the £1,000 I paid at the time. No! I must have been mad......

Not all of us are tall enough to close an open roof from sitting in the car.

I dispute that. It is solely a matter of technique.
One takes the hood from behind the seat with the left hand and brace with the right hand on the left wrist.
