Hi all,
Does anyone know if the lower bushes on MGTF damper units can be replaced?

I had one of mine replaced recently so Yes they can be.

no I specified bottom bush .
It transpires that they are available as a sperate item from MGFNTFBITZ.
Not cheap but a fraction of the cost of a new damper unit ,especially since the springs and dampers are usually ok .
The upper bushes and lower bush unit are the culprits and that makes it a worth while job to refurb an existing front or rear shock assy especially if you have the soft shockers fitted to your 2005 MGTF already and it failed MOT on bushes.
What I need to do now is work out if I can remove and refit the lower bush using home DIY methods

How confident are you the dampers are good? If they are how much longer will they last?

Cheaper is not always the best solution.

You'll need a bearing press and suitable sleve to press them out.

I am having a terrible time getting my rebuilt shocker units back into the turret-the centre line of the lower bush is too low to mate with the upper arm recess and I cant compress the suspension enough to line everything up.
The rebuilt shockers are assembled correctly and have the same length as the old units.
It appears the the rubber isolator at the top which goes into the roof of the turret is stopping the shocker from lining up at the bottom mating place.
Without the rubber isolator the match is prefect -obviously cant leave this out so how to compress everything

any ideas

Sorry Mike I didn't have that problem when I did mine. perhaps the damper has opened a bit?

Can you compress the unit slightly with a jack when you install it?
