Soft ride kit with polybushes 3 years 8 months ago #193951

Hi have puchased the softride kit, and thought instead of the rubber bushes I would use poly bushes.

Tried for 30 mins to get one bush over the spring retaining nut. Impossibe! Has anyone achieved this near impossible task? if so how did you do it. I even sprayed silicon spray over the bush. No luck.

I have check with Polubush and I have the correct bushes (from Rimmers).

Plenty of silicon spray and brute force. Now to fit the kit.

Well done, let us know how the suspension feels once you're back on the road.

Having fitted the kit I must say I am extremely pleased with the result. Ride is smoother, normal road imperfections are not so noticable and the ride is a lot quieter.

Yes there were problems fitting. The rear shocks, totally rusted nut that would not move ( allan key socket roundeda and split with the pressure) and therefore resulted in having to angle grind the nuts to split them off!!! (no did not have a nut splitter). So not so simple update.

This now raises a question about tyre pressures. (Groaning noises I hear). Besides the soft ride kit, my TF has 15", 6 Spke wheels, Toyo Proxes 185/55R 15 front and Toyo Proxes 205/50R 15 Rear. The MGR manual states 26 PSI front and 36 PSI Rear.

Looking through the varous forums it seem for my set-up the norm is 26 PSI Front 30 to 32 PSI Rear.

Anybody have an opion on the norm or MGR pressures based on experience ?

Regards

On a TF the recommended pressures are 36psi at the back.
