I changed the badges on the TF the other day with brand new ones as they were getting tatty and the enamel was chipping off. I noticed the back of the badge was plated and thought I would have a go at stripping off the enamel on the front and see what is underneath.
I was surprised to see that the front was also plated; so I had a go at polishing the badge with a buffer wheel and metal polishing kit.
Not a bad result for thirty minutes work and soaking overnight in a 50/50 mix of thinners and meths which is all I had knocking about in the garage.
