LE-500 gear shift 4 years 3 months ago #192154

I have now had my LE-500 for 6 months and enjoying owning and driving it. Main problem is the gear shift: really stiff in every gear (especially after the ease and smoothness of my MGC). Sometimes, reverse doesn't engage first time, even though the audible warning is sounding. Are they all like this?

The NAC cars have a plastic gear shift mechanism, it's possibly is that causing the issue. There other option is the cables maybe lack of internal lubrication, although I've never heard of that except on really old cars.

It could be the gear mechanism, let's hope not. Maybe try getting some spray lubricant on the gear levers on the gearbox (see if you can get it to go where the lever pins enter the box), and lift up the gear stick gator and check if the mechanism needs lubricating there? I think the NAC ones have a kind of ball and socket affair.
