After removing the front subframe on Tuesday I've spend the last few days avoiding the rain by moving into my untidy garage and an MOT for my daily car plus a strip down of the subframe. I'm nearly there but having trouble removing the Front Upper Arm. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Not sure on the top arm but it looks like you'll be busy.

You could be right, however it looks worse than is. Doesn't seem to be any serious rust on the subframe. I'll know once i take the rust off. I'm in no hurry as i have no plans to have it on the road until next summer. Have to be honest getting the subframe off was easier than i expected thanks to CJJ's How To. Won't say how many bolts snapped but I'll be going through a few drills to remove them :yesnod: Looks like i can refurbish most of the parts with a combination of sanding and blasting and a bit of painting.

Hi
To remove the upper suspension arm first remove the locking plate held in by 2 small nuts and bolts the remove the nuts from the shaft ends and the bar should push out allowing the arm to pull out of the recess.

Thanks Kevin
Didn't see those little bolts hiding down there.

Strip down now complete. I now have a pile of rust parts which I'll go through at my leisure over the next few months.

Had a few hours spare this afternoon so took the opportunity to degrease the sub-frame and start taking the rust off. So far it seems that it's all surface rust as it's pretty sold underneath.

Had a few spare hours this morning so it was out with the grinder and a sanding attatchment. Brace bars and Anti roll almost rust free. A little tidy up in the awkward parts and it ready for primer, hopefully sometime this week.
