I remember doing a routine service on a VM engined TX4 taxi which included an oil and filter service plus auto gear box service ,went on a short road test and checked the 'kick down ' gear change at about 30 mph and the engine just locked up . I drifted to the side of the road and thought .....ok. ....Did I tighten the sump plug ? ? ? Got out and yes the plug was still there . Did I forget to put oil in the engine ? Nope ......full of oil ! Engine solid ! Recovered back to workshop and found that the engine had locked up on the center main bearing . Mileage of engine, 12000 mls . As I say they might be better now but compared to the Nissan engined TX1 which went on for ever , the VM Chrysler unit was pants ! I'll get off my soap box now .
