My old Mg TF used to superlock on one click and 'normal' lock with two. My Mg F locks with one and superlocks with two. But I don't know why separate keys would be different!

Interesting, I've never heard of this distinction before.
Iambob, does your's lock normally on two presses?
Just thought I would update this as still havent got to the bottom of it.
Bought another plip off ebay and it works as normal. aka one push for normal lock and two for superlock. Problem is it doesnt have the coil to auto disable the immobiliser like the xpart one.
So maybe its a 17TN model thing - the plips with the immobilizer coil do superlocking?
Plips do not have coils for immobiliser. Coil is on the ignition barrel. Only difference is with 3TXA plips, they will not work on later car alarm systems with coil for immobiliser.
If the car is am MGTF with a SCU controller-then combined locking ( single plip superlocking) is a programming option that can be done to the SCU ..
