Noticed the handbook says replace airbags after 15 years, which is now for my TF. Is there a way of testing if the airbags are still okay (without crashing), can the mechanism be serviced, or are the bags available as a replacement item? I've got a passenger side one (which I hear are not too effective!) as well as the steering-wheel one...

All the manufactures were saying that 15 years ago but history has proved it to be rather over cautious.

Thank you for the reassurance guys, but whilst we are on the subject was there a particular year when passenger airbags were fitted into the F and TF?
I'm sure I have just blanks fitted in both mine.

I believe for most markets they were an option from the start, here in Oz they were always standard equipment.

Our TF is one of the last from Brum, and has a passenger blank so I guess they were always an option.
