In a word, Yes

but

not all MGF or TF wheels will clear all sizes of brake.

With normal brakes on you can fit any type of F or TF wheels.

16" Square spokes are my favourite but they wont fit over ap calipers :( without a conversion of some kind.

They are multi piston callipers to apply more/even pressure onto bigger discs

The ap calipers look like this.

Some years back I messed around swapping wheels around on my escort and the larger wheels on land rovers...I found it changed the reading on the speedo ....in my case it was 10mph out...not sure what to expect if you were to go from 15 inch to 16 inch rims...I'll leave that for another member to answer.

Changing from 15” to 16” wheels will mean using a lower profile - 40 or 45 depending on tyre width. As long as you do check on a tyre size calculator and the %age change is less than 2.5% then the speedo will be correct. If ou use standard MG wheels and tyres then there is no problem.

This is my 1.8i on 16 inch square spokes which I fitted a few years ago having had the standard 15 inch round spokes (which also looked OK). No speedo issues as the profile is lower. I have the standard brake set-up which is fine provided your discs, calipers & pads are in good condition.

As long as you use a lower profile tyre 40 for 16" then the overall diameter wil be the same as a 15" with a 45 profile.
