To flush or not to flush 6 years 8 months ago #179245

Hi all

I have a 2004 1.6 TF with 54k on the clock but no service history and about to change the oil and filter. Should I use a flushing agent or just change the oil.
I noticed yesterday that it was sounding a little tapperty

Any advice welcome

Of subject a bit. Europarts are giving 30% off online purchases today

Personally I would examine the contents of the oil pan after drain and flush or not based on sludge content, if there is a lot then flush if lttle or none leave alone, wherever you decide add valve lifter additive afterwards it's the only additive I ever use and it does what it says.

Change it and refill with diesel oil, they have more detergents.

Run it for a few days or a couple of weeks, change it again and refill with normal oil.
