I spent a bit of time knocking together a new lower speedo cable.

The principle is simple - take the middle cable from the scrap F, shorten it to the correct length (1350mm), square the end to fit the drive in the gearbox sender.

I started by trying to square the cable at the correct point and got there to a fashion but it was hard going as my Dremel replica (came from Woolworths!) isn't as good as it used to be. I then tried cutting it with the same tool to avoid fraying one would get from a pair of snips.

Unfortunately I did get some fraying so tried to file that with a conventional hand file which just gave more fraying.

Then my steak was done, medium rare, so left it for another time.

I've forgotten how many it's had to be honest. This last one had done at least 50,000 miles, and I think my catastrophic radiator failure didn't help.

All done and dusted!
Purring like a kitten!:woohoo:
Gasket had failed between cylinders one and two. Jon and Claire found a couple of coolant leaks and a hose that was starting to split.
My adjustable alternator bracket was seized solid but they managed to free it off before everything went back together.
It was great to see them working together like a well-oiled machine

Had a side light fail so thought I'd try LED replacements and change the cover screws to s/s while I was at it. All arrived today and fitted, although the LED lights are longer so it's a tight fit. All for the princely sum of £3.06.

The LED bulbs never last long. the circuit board corrodes very quickly. Just make sure you check that they are still working at regular intervals. I swapped mine back to normal bulbs as the LED ones I fitted lasted about 4 months on one side and 6 months on the other side. May be ok if you only drive in the dry and keep it garaged.

A road and sea trip to the Isle of Man. We drove most of the TT course and some other really good, and quiet, roads.

I like finding parts on AliExpress.

Today my cam sensor arrived ready to fit when I do the next oil change as the PScan shows a fault.

I've also got a speed sensor as I get a speed sensor fault even though the speedo works fine, and mine is an electronic speedo so not sure about that but the sensor was under$20 so happy to take the chance.

The AliExpress blower resistor is still working fine.

Today I had some spare time so jacked up the back to grease the rear top arm and try to find an annoying rattle.
Fortunately it's just the muffler rubber mount split at the bottom allowing the exhaust tip to touch the bumper.
Mine seems to have larger exhaust tips which look great but don't have as much clearance.
I also discovered that one of the wheel nuts was missing the chrome cover which means I can't remove that wheel using the wheel brace....good thing I haven't had a puncture!

Try a 18mm socket.
