G'day Fellas.
Great thread. I have used dynamat before in my T5 Van, and its a good product.
I just took delivery of my 2004 160 coupe and drove it 1750kms home. BLOODY NOISY on the goat track we call Highway One in Australia.
There was no way you could listen to the radio and at the end of the day I was shattered.
The car has the OEM tyres which are 9 years old so they may have been hard and noisier than normal as well. Toyos when I get a chance will replace them.
I plan to line the interior of my car with Dynamat Extreme as well, including the door skins.
Roughly how long did it take to do the floor pan, doors and rear fire wall?
Thanks for any advice re this and tips are most welcome.

Best wishes from Oz.

Hi Ken

I stripped the complete interior.. (3 hours)

Cleaned the floor and checked for rust etc.. then applied the bichumen sound proffing bit at a time.. use a paint stripper gun to get it really hot before applying.. it sticks much better.. :broon:

Floor took me about 5 hours.. then stone chipped on top..

I did both sides of the fuel tank cover.. But also removed the fuel tank (no ten min job.. avoid if possible)

Around the top of the engine bay not so bad.. but again I did both sides..

Doors are really fiddly.. best bet is strip the door of glass and runners but that would mean a day per door..

I still want to try 75mm closed cell foam ontop of the engine inspection cover as I reckon with my hard top fitted the car will be ultra quiet..

Good luck mate and dont forget the pics :broon:

Thanks for the info mate.
I will do the job ASAP but want to prioritise getting the car park dents out of the left hand side of the car. I'll insure I get decent pics of the process.

Good on you.

I would like the rolls experience the most but if you ain't got the cash and you don't want to spoil the mg by sticking on bitumen sheets then just set off on your long journeys with these on...bonus blocks out the sound of the Mrs telling you when to brake.

Just buy a Bentley Azure for open top driving .Very quiet .But cannot guarantee roof closing when you want .Evan have to wait 24 hours then it works
MGF NO PROBLEM just learn to fold properly .

Ear plugs must be the answer so long as you can hear someone hooting or a police siren
