I don't understand why no one else has reported this, it's a pretty common mod. I specifically bought the same part numbered item from a forum how to.

I was thinking that I must have got the wrong motor, but the wiring diagrams make it clear to me that the Freelander is wired back to front from the MGF in terms of the wiper system.

It is the same motor mechanically BUT not electrically.

It does make you wonder about some Forum 'wisdom', doesn't it?

It does indeed, I could understand if it was just the one but I read quite a few. It's going to bug me till I fit it now and I won't get a chance till the weekend

In terms of dodgy 'wisdom' it gets promulgated across different forums by people passing it on in good faith, and then because you see the same 'facts' on multiple sites, you presume they must be correct.

Re: Electrical assistance required 11 years 3 months ago #100382

Hi all. Found your forum today after struggling to make a freelander motor work on my 2001 F. I've followed Davids remedy so no more blown fuses, but cant get the motor to park properly, Are there any wires to swap as well as insulating the pcb to get this cheaper motor to work? Thanks. Great site by the way, glad I've found it!!

:welcome2: If it's all working apart from parking in the wrong place, then the arm mechanism needs to be moved around on the motor drive cog. :broon:

It seems electrical, doesn't seem to run long enough on intermittent to get the wipers up and back. Sometimes stopping only half way up the screen. And stops as soon as you turn off the switch, never at the park pos.

Thinking back, I eventually changed the gearbox casing ( the metal one) to the plastic one from the old motor to get the self park to work.
