A familiar sight when our TF arrived. Since then I have adjusted the windows and sealed the heater inlet so the inside stays dry-ish. i also used some Autoglym kit to wash and seal the hood, now if it rains it beads and runs off. I think i just went over the inside of the hood with a faux chamois and it didnt come back . So it seems the mould needs water to flourish.
I wouldnt use trhe Autoglym again, our tame chemist at the Car Club uses tent sealer from Bkacks or Millets, same stuff but cheaper.

Leigh,

I had some of the same mould in my car when I bought it. Diluted white vinegar did the trick for me.

I have often considered one of those soft top liners but worry about not being able to see signs of mold.

Moisture absorbers, worth putting all the time or just over night, helps stop screen misting up too.

I have something similar to the Kontrol Streamline. 2 can be trapped behind each seat. Only just started using them today so not really an expert on them just yet, however hopefully thy can soak up a bit of the moisture that's leaked in through the cracked rear screen over the past few months.

They do work, my Daughter & Son-in-Law used them last winter in their house to collect the "puddles" on the window cills in the mornings. Double glazed windows in an aluminium frame, condensation on the ali. They do pick up a lot of moisture.

The Dettol spray contains bleach which is known to kill mould, but it can bleach the colour out  :broon:

Going by the amount of water collected in mine, I would stick with the ones that have the collectors underneath, I would be a tad worried that the pillow ones could drip or transfer moisture back onto the surface :-?

I have an old 4 pint milk carton cut in half and half filled with rock salt, works a treat at capturing the mosture, when it is saturated I just bring it into the house for 24 hours. It will never collect so much mosture that it leaks water.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

MG - the friendly marque.

I meant the pillow version as opposed to a container :-?
