..........I really ought to wire the mirrors through the hrw as well. Every electron counts on a cold morning!


The mirror heaters are live all the time the ignition is on.

I know it seems counterintuitive but using the air conditioning is a very effective way to clear condensation mist from the windscreen as it’s dry air


As I keep saying, it is air CONDITIONING, not air CHILLING.

Being used to a heated windscreen,........


Heated screens are available from Ricky Evens Motorsport. I have one in my F and one the garage to go in the F I share with my lad.

Wiring the mirrors through the HRW reduces the starting current draw by two Amps. If you need either then you need both and vice versa. I am aware of the heated windscreen, it has already been discussed in this thread, as has the use of air conditioning. The best solution for me has been to buy a more appropriate car for wintry conditions fitted with all of the above features as standard and much better lights.

Yes. That makes a lot more sense and is a much easier solution. Save your MG for nicer weather!

My Mk1 MGF door mirrors heat up whilst the engine is running, there is no switch to turn them on & off, they are permanently connected.

Exactly. Ridiculous, isn't it? Running the battery down for nothing when that current could be turning the engine on a cold morning.
