The F went to its first classic event in Poole this morning, following a very good breakfast at the local Toby with friends in their BMW. I had the hood down, of course and arrived behind a Minor and a Phase 2a Sunbeam Talbot. We went to see the mayhem that is the Bathtub race and joined the rest of the clssics on the quay, The weather turned fresh at 10.45 and I went back to the car to raise the hood not a minute too soon! Back at base later, I looked out the aluminium tubes I had saved from wing struts and resolved to make a hardtop trolley. Then I found a couple of pump up bags and a pair of pulleys. And a car crawler. Some time later, I have a plan. A trolley that carries the hardtop and positions it over the car to fit it single handed and safely.
I built something similar for placing the wings for fitting to the aircraft about ten years ago so I'll dig into my thinking head and start making it tomorrow.
