We will soon have openings on the moderation team.

Preferably for members with a sound technical knowledge and the ability to answer queries. However, a depth of detailed knowledge is not obligatory as we also welcome enthusiasts who are willing to devote time to the forum.

Are you interested in becoming a moderator?
Are you able to commit a fair amount of your time for the benefit of this forum?
Are you able to deal diplomatically with problems that may arise on the forum, without allowing your personal feelings to intrude.

We already have a shortlist of prospective candidates, but just to be fair and so we don't overlook any willing and able parties, expressions of interest are also invited from any member or potential new member, for the post of T-Bar moderator.

The T-Bar moderator role includes the following tasks and responsibilities:-

To ensure that the atmosphere on all of the forum remains friendly and informative.
To answer technical questions in a timely manner where practicable.
To ensure all posts are answered reasonably quickly.
To answer or guide queries to a relevant source of information.
To meet and greet new members posts.
To administrate posts and threads with explanations as required.
To resolve contentious issues, amicably where possible.
To commit a reasonable amount of time to the moderation of the forum.
To tidy forum posts of both national and international members, without offending those whose first language is not English.

The forum has a moderator/admin. only section where you can bring any of the above to the attention of other members of the team. You will not be expected to cope with contentious issues on your own, but will have the full mod/admin. team to discuss things with.

If you would like to be considered, please reply to any team member by pm, in the first instance.

Nope .......................................... been there done it got the t-shirt.

it seems that as I aged somehow or other I am less tolerant and seem to have refined the knack of upsetting folks.

Also don't do PC I speak as I find and feel which is no longer allowed hence am not of moderator material any more.

...but you're honest. :yesnod: I know what you mean by age reducing tolerance though. ;)

Can we nominate people who we think would make a good moderator?

If so, I would like to nominate: ****
If not, i'll just keep quiet.

Ah yes, much better idea!
This is (one of the many reasons) why I'd be no good at these things....

You need to start somewhere.

Look at me, I didn't know much when I started and now I know even less.

They won't let me go until I find the elephant I lost in here somewhere. :slapme:

To be fair, this place needs very little moderation nowadays. The majority of the members are adult enough to self moderate their own views. Occasionally you might need your referees whistle but there's not much call for yellow cards or sending offs too often. :yesnod:

The majority of the mod work is keeping the place tidy, adding, editing and adjusting how to guides (which I tend to do mostly). Tweaking posts, inserting pics and so on.

Mostly the need is to monitor and assist unanswered posts and queries, for the best part. No real dramas.
