Thanks sundance i'll bear that in mind. Ideally i'd like a 160 but a low mileage 135 with hardtop at that price is obviously attractive. Let me see what i can find in 160 guise first , but i'll bear it in mind.

Well Norm, as far as I am concerned with the traffic as it is these days and the diabolical condition of the roads in the UK allied also to the fact that I did all of my fast and ultra fast driving (including comp.) approximately 1,500,000 miles and countless years ago, I have decided that the only model for me is the 1.8i MGF as it has a far more back and generally bone friendly ride.

Having had a new shoulder, both hips and numerous opps. on my spine, including a cage fitted to my neck, the very last thing I want at my age is a bone shaking and generally ar*e numbing ride, but having driven a few miles in the 'F' I found it to be very responsive, quite comfortable and even with only 118bhp, suitably coaxed, it didn't hang around.

Buzzy-beans: i think if i had had your "repairs", that's what i would go for as well!
