If you want a 160, hold out and wait for one.

If you buy a 135, you will always wish you had waited a little longer for the 160!

135's are great, 160's are better

That was my only regret when buying my TF 135's

Now I only have one TF... and an mercedes SLK350...cant beat horsepower :broon:

Hi and welcome to the forum

The best advice I can offer is to try several before you buy.

MGF and MGTF handle completely differently due to the differing suspension set ups so try both, the F is more suited to cruising while the TF is more sporty.

Good luck.

Dunno if it's been mentioned but there is a TF 115 BHP model: 1.6 litres and a more basic spec. Personally I'd steer clear, but it's your choice.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I was chatting to a chap today who used to have a mk1 1.8 F and now has a late 1.6 TF - he preferred the ride of the F but the drive of the 1.6.

Also, a by-product of MG ownership is that you can pursue a career as a master criminal. After a few repairs you won't have any fingerprints remaining, just scar tissue.

actually at my age most of my bits are sore; the only parts that don't ache are those that have already fallen off!

thanks smudger, all good reasons for getting a TF, Whilst i'm no mechanic (at my gliding club people used to take cover when i picked up a spanner!) what i do have is time and the ability to access this website for much needed assistance. I find that if you've got the advice, the tools and you don't have to rush it takes the pressure off. Plus as it's to be a hobby car it doesn't matter if it's off the road for a week while i work on it. I'm long past the time when i want to be skinning my knuckles on a wet sunday evening to have the car ready for monday morning
