The subject of whether it is possible to tow an MGF comes up frequently.

There is a general belief that you must not tow an F!

Interestingly my Owner's manual does not support this belief.

HOWEVER - Towing should only be undertaken with the correct equipment and by suitably experienced people.

Below is a copy of the relevant page, with the important parts highlighted in red.

Interesting, eh?

So, you must not tow an F with a rope or a chain. You must not tow another vehicle with an F.

In other words, it is possible to tow a manual F using a suitable bar or a towing 'A' Frame. If these devices will not damage the Bumper/splitter when the vehicle is being towed.

You can not tow an automatic F, unless the rear wheels are lifted off the ground to protect the gearbox.

Undoubtedly, the safest, most secure method of recovery is to on top of a specialist company's vehicle.

I cannot comment on the TF as I have no access to the relevant owner's manual.

These guidance pictures show the lashing attachment points to use when being recovered or towed.
