For anyone with a My2000 on a car that is OBD2 compliant then this reader is a very cheap tool. :yesnod:

Ebay OBD2 Readers link.

They come with a booklet with a comprehensive list of codes.

It plugs into this port here within the fusebox compartment under the steering wheel.

'How to access all Mems versions' is further down the page in this guide.

Hi!
I assume that this will not work on my VVC MEMS 2J and that I would need the more expensive version.
Any advice??

Hi!
I assume a reader for VVC MEMS 2J is going to cost the earth.
Any advice on this?

Mike

I don't know of any cheap readers for vehicles that are not OBD2 compliant. Sorry:dunno:

The only handheld reader I know of is the Omnitech DTC4001A which can be loaded with the MGR T4 diagnostic software. This will then work with all versions of mems, but cheap it's not!

At the Goodwood meet, Paul used one to code up a new keyfob for me.

When you've got your code reader, what do all those codes mean?

This site is very helpful.

Just tried the MG with my code reader and got the usual result, O2sensor heater fault, will need to locate the two heater wires and put a resistor on them to get rid of the light. Used my ELM327 interface and OBDautodoctor on my laptop (Linux), worked great so any one thinking shall I risk money on an ELM interface can be sure they do work on the MGTF. Anybody in the Bristol area needs a code reading give me a pm and I,ll see if I can help you.
