Thanks John, I checked the cable this evening and appears smooth, but the pedal seemed a bit stiff, so I'll strip it tomorrow.

I've also developed a stutter when decelerating when the engine is warm which I don't think is related and is possibly a dirty IACV ( the ticking from what I understand is the IACV when I turn the ignition on is going on longer than usual I think) I'm going to clean that too.
