Hi Bill,
Would not worry about it, my fan has not come on all summer. Yes it does work, came on all the time when I had a dodgy ECU in the past. Many reports that they only really kick in when driven hard on a very hot day . And if my memory serves me right , the parameters for the engine bay fan are higher in a VVC 160 than in a standard 135 anyway so will come on / stay on even less.
