Thank you for all your responses - Finally found the underside cover for the slam panel, that covers the bonnet catch and it's this that the holes line up with. Mystery solved and the remainder of the items removed now installed. My Lesson Learned is put all the bits removed in one place and not as I did - scattered around the workshop!

I removed my slam panel a few days ago and on re-installing cannot see what a bolt in this hole would do.
Any advice would be appreciated .... and yes next time I'll take notes/take photos!
