  • Hi, sorry if the data you have put on would rule this one out, or if you have already tried and ruled it out before moving onto mor involved things..... im not so great with newer cars and many sensors, but I had similar issues with mine about 6 months ago. It would be lumpy under load and idle would rise to nearly 1250.

It turned out to be HT leads were damaged and arcing out to each other causing it to be a very confused ECU resorting to odd maps. Replaced with new and all is well. annoyingly they rub when driving, a few cheep clips to keep the new ones separate and 6 months on still fine.

Also on account of troublesome, they can have there moments, but the majority of parts are cheep, Ive found mine behaves far better with more use, compared to newer cars are more simplistic, compared to classics are far more reliable, and compared to rust issues on the sluggish MX5 and potential engine failure from a dodgy cat on MR2s.... HGF aside are quite reliable. Once through this rough patch im sure you will love it and it will love you back by behaving :drive:

    Hi all,

Ive decided to treat my F to some 4 pot calipers and multispoke 160 wheels. My old brakes are getting due and overhaul, and an luck would have it a friend was breaking a very crispy 160 TF.

Sadly... due to the crispy nature, one of the bolts snapped off during removal, ive drilled it out, however nicked the hellicoil with the drill  So, am looking at re coiling it, however, i cant get a nice read on what size i need. (i know there is not guarantee it is the standard size)

What size should the thread and bolt be on these ap racing 4 pots to attach to the hub? (and im guessing they don't normally come with coils in them :pinch: )

    Thanks, James

Hi, ive had my 98VVC F for just shy of 7 years, and for 6 and a half of those have had a full toyosports exhaust system fitted. Love it! sounds good, nice tone but not too overpowering on long drives yet is louder when pushed. And its lasted over 6 years..... which compared to general experience isnt too bad considering cost and road condition. BUT at last fail it has :(

About 3 months ago it developed a rattle, this is now unbelievably annoying and overpowering.... makes my lovely little sports car sound unloved and like its ready for the scrap heap. Plus its now speant the last month plastering the back of my car with fiberglass strands which looks a bit like a very large malting dog has been rubbing its self on the back. So its time for a new backbox.

I love the look and sound of the TT... but it think it could be a bit OTT at the ungodly hours i drive with shift work. With my weekend toy being a TVR, i love noise.... but love the F for a slightly more subdued and subtle sportscar drive, hence the toyosports, fun but not too OTT.

But I cant find one anywhere! I previously bought one on Ebay, none for sale anymore, other 2nd hand sites have none and the toyosports website its self doesnt list anything under MG...

Does anyone know of a secret stash or shop somewhere that still sell them?

    Thanks,
    James.

  • Holy thread resurrection batman!!.... :omg:

Question... can you fit a TF center dash to an F, asin, do all the plugs for the switches interchange so can i plug my 98 F wires into 2004 TF dash. Reason for asking is a mate is breaking a 160 sunsport and ive always fancied the later dash middle with the studded gear surround.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for all your responses.

Yep i agree, looks like a scam. I wont give out any details other than an iban, im going to let him keep "looking" for a unit to satisfy my curiosity. will put back on here what he comes back with, (or doesnt come back with).

    Cheers, James

Hi, after 6 years sadly the time has come to part with My F VVC onto pastures new.

I've had some seemingly serious interest from a guy who claims to be in America and is looking for a nice small sports car for his daughter. Wants an MGF and is taken by mine. However cannot import it for 2 more years due to the complex world of American inport laws. So has asked if I can instead store it for him here in the UK for 2 years.

I've advised him to go for an older one and import now but he is quite insistent on mine. I've told him if he organises storage and as of when I park it in the storage facility it is sold, he pays me, and I am no longer reasponsible for it, this ends our dealings, his car and no come backs for buying unseen. He is still very keen. And in the process of finding a unit to store it in.

All of this sets off my scammy-sensors. But I can't see how the scam works.... How can he benefit? So ... Can it be real ... ? If I get it bank transfer, and get him to email me saying he accepts responsibility for its current condition and no comebacks.... ?

    What's people's thoughts?

(Sorry if the buyer reads this, please don't take offence, cautiousness is always the best way)
