Could anyone help please? recently i have periodically experienced this annoying problem and I am at a loss as to what is causing it.
Now and then I will start the car and the engine turns over but doesn't ignite...almost like petrol starvation.
After a few attempts and pumping of the accelerator, it eventually splutters into life.
I had wondered if it was the immobiliser fob, but on some occasions the beeping hasn't come on before disengaging the immobiliser. so my other thought was could it be a build up of sludge in the in-line petrol filter causing a starvation to the throttle?
If anyone else has experienced this, I would be keen to know what causes it as the car runs brilliantly and fires up first time every time otherwise.
I have just been to the garage to put fuel into my MGF VVC 1.8 and the engine turned over but wouldn't fire-up. kept pumping the accelarator and eventually the engine fired up....bit lumpy at first and then fine after a few revs.
is this an indication of fuel starvation, blocked fuel filter or bad spark plugs?
Wondered if anyone else had experienced this and how did you resolve it.
Many thanks for this advice...turns out that it was a faulty engine bay temp sensor...got a replacement for a tenner from Andrew Wardrobe's MG ebay shop and it has cured all faults
Hi everyone, wondered if anyone else has experienced this? After 3 weeks in the garage, got the MGF out and the engine temp light on the dash remained on…. Also the rear fan is staying on? Could this be due to a faulty sensor, the engine clearly isn’t hot as it hasn’t been used in weeks, coolant level is fine, soI was wondering if the sensor is playing up.
The engine temp is fine, no over heating either.
Can anyone offer any remedies / suggestions on how to resolve this?
