Hello everyone
i think i should have come here sooner,i bought a 2000 mk2 v v c,just 4 weeks ago and despite my motor mechanic neighbour and mate telling me from the outset to change the cambelt,it went last monday before i got a round tooit :nonod: id advise any other new owners that if there's no solid proof of a recent belt to change the lot(cam,v v c and alternater) a.s.a.p

The choice of gasket is usually the MLS (multiple layer steel shim) if the liners are proud of the block face, but a Payen type if the liners are flush.

If the cam belt has let go be prepared for serious damage in there. Bent valves at minimum.
