Well, sort of MG related.
Regular readers will know that I've just got a company car. A Volvo. It's fitted with Bridgestone tyres: they really stick like camel shit to an Army blanket.

Did some handling tests..... :broon:

Any experience on MG's?

Mine are 17 x 50. Impressed.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

You already know that the MGF & TF is very tyre sensitive, suspension was designed for Goodyears ONLY, then Continental Premium Contact were the approved replacements. I know many that are running on TOYO Proxes T1-R or Falken Ziex ZE914 or Maxxis MAZ1 XL with excellent results.

Have a look at MGF Tyres - says that Bridgestone S-02 are the best and RE720 are a good alternative on the MGF/TF.

Rob Bell and I have both fitted these

Much stickier than T1Rs etc.. But more expensive.. But cheaper then 888s

Rob swears by the Federals..

My car came with Federal tyres on it when I got it.
The fronts were knackered and replaced with Falkens .
I find the Federals are absolutely diabolical on wet tram lines, they wont even track in a straight line without violently flicking sideways! I have to tip toe very carefully in the wet.
I won't be buying Federals when I get around to replacing them (very soon)

I have no complaints about the Falkens, they're nothing remarkable either.

Soz, should have been a bit clearer: running Proxes on the MG with loads of life left and v happy with them.

I was just wondering if anyone had tried them (Bridgestone Turanza directional) on an F or a TF. Certainly impressive on the old IKEA-Mobile grip wise :broon:

I tried Turanzas on the wife's bmw 3 series and they wore out in about 11k - all four! She's not a fast driver and other tyres, Continental in particular lasted a lot longer, round about 15k on the back and 20k on the front.

It'll be interesting to see how yours work out on the Volvo John.

I suspected that they may be a fairly soft compound by the way they grip.
