I got another mechanic to fix the problems that halfords created and they paid that + expenses to me direct with me threatening to post the lot on the internet, MG Club websites etc. Put it all in writing and do a pretend copy to the MG Car Club president dont send it really but make sure that the letter to the car dealer has a the copy instruction included.

Also say this has caused you stress and you dont appreciate the threats made by his company etc.

It all boils down to how much time you have to complain.

I'm a moaner and like to get my own way.

I had quite a following of people prepared to go to said halfords and do some lobbying... Maybe a MG outing to said dealer would sort him out.

The threats of getting the media involved and spreading the story about certainty did it for me.

Good luck.

I even posted Halfords the link to the post on here and .org with the response from the mobile mechanics and other experienced mechanics.

It was a good feeling sticking it to the man :)

Well, after a couple of days of tactical messaging/phoning/emailing I believe I've got the best outcome.
He's agreed to pay me £300 as a final settlement, and we move on and get on with our lives. By rights I had to give him every opportunity to fix the car, but I most certainly didn't want that to happen as I believe he would bodge it, Again.
I said I wanted to witness the car in a dismantled state so that I could see the condition of the head/gasket etc or, equally I would be happy for an indipendant garage to carry out the work so long as he contributed £300 towards the cost. Result.
Thanks again to all of you for your input, and John&Sue....great idea about forwarding the dealer review site (s)..... I reckon that may have had an impact.
All I need now is for Russell to get in touch......

Yes, indeed, time to move on and hopefully when sorted, get to enjoy my little MG.
Sorry to spoil your fun John, I'm sure you've got better things to do on a Sunday morning, err (cough), swotting up steam tables perhaps?

Steam tables? Know 'em off by heart...... :yesnod:

Actually, taking the new IKEA-Mobile on a run to a steam fair in Kettering.
So the MG, which normally undertakes such duties, will be sulking on the drive.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
