Below is the message I received from 'Neal' after my phone call to him regarding my/his problem regarding HGF?......."hi,just to let you know, after you were very abusive to myself and indeed threatand my wife earlier this evening I feel its best we have no contact until I have spoken to my legal team as we feel that we may need to take action against you, my wife should not have to put up with people like you. just give me a couple of days to consider as she intends to report you to the police. many thanks neal"

Sounds like hot air to me.

What you want to do is put it all in writing and send it to the trading standards. Meanwhile get Russell on the job.

I had a run in with Halfords a while back and won compensation.

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/consumer_e/consumer_cars_and_other_vehicles_e/consumer_problems_with_the_car_you_bought_e/the_car_you_bought_is_faulty.htm

I put everything in writing... All phone calls, letters and photos.

It was a bind but I won and have a tall fridge in my kitchen courtesy of Halfords :)

What an absolute Wayne Kerr.

As a lover of mischief both as a young man and now, I might well go and examine his stock on Sunday and discuss its shortcomings in a loud voice with Sue. And hope it doesn't influence any potential customers.

I'll take pics....

I got another mechanic to fix the problems that halfords created and they paid that + expenses to me direct with me threatening to post the lot on the internet, MG Club websites etc. Put it all in writing and do a pretend copy to the MG Car Club president dont send it really but make sure that the letter to the car dealer has a the copy instruction included.

Also say this has caused you stress and you dont appreciate the threats made by his company etc.

It all boils down to how much time you have to complain.

I'm a moaner and like to get my own way.

I had quite a following of people prepared to go to said halfords and do some lobbying... Maybe a MG outing to said dealer would sort him out.

The threats of getting the media involved and spreading the story about certainty did it for me.

Good luck.

I even posted Halfords the link to the post on here and .org with the response from the mobile mechanics and other experienced mechanics.

It was a good feeling sticking it to the man :)

Well, after a couple of days of tactical messaging/phoning/emailing I believe I've got the best outcome.
He's agreed to pay me £300 as a final settlement, and we move on and get on with our lives. By rights I had to give him every opportunity to fix the car, but I most certainly didn't want that to happen as I believe he would bodge it, Again.
I said I wanted to witness the car in a dismantled state so that I could see the condition of the head/gasket etc or, equally I would be happy for an indipendant garage to carry out the work so long as he contributed £300 towards the cost. Result.
Thanks again to all of you for your input, and John&Sue....great idea about forwarding the dealer review site (s)..... I reckon that may have had an impact.
All I need now is for Russell to get in touch......
