EKA code does not work 9 years 8 months ago #147682

Had my local Rover garage to retrieve my EKA code which was lost but when I try to use it by turning the key in the lock the alarm is triggered. I have been told that it is the micro switches in the lock that is out of funktion. Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Are you following this?

Are your locks working normally otherwise? on the fob?
Does the interior light work properly?

Perhaps I am not holding the key in lock position ( the first step) long enough. I will try this tomorrow. Otherwise everything is working as it should when I use the fob also the interior lights

Where abouts are you, if you live anywhere near Heathrow Airport I will be able to retrieve your EKA code.

:-? I have now tried to unlock the car according to your information, but already when I turn the key to lock position, the alarm sounds after 4 seconds and I have to stop. I cannot even enter the code before the alarm goes. What is wrong?

It can only be that the car thinks something is still unlocked. So either a door or boot lock is giving a faulty signal.
What I don't understand is how you can lock and unlock the car with the fob without a problem

Yes it is strange that everything is working quite normal using the fob. There is no light indicating that a door or boot is inlocked. it is only for my own security that I want the door security code to work. I can live it not working but it is irritating

I can only suggest that you try the alarm system test procedure.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that some EKA codes on early MGF's were incorrect with I think the second and fourth digits needing to be increased by one to correct. i.e. 1234 should read 1335
A google search may provide the answer. I don't know if this will help.
I hope you can get it sorted soon. :drive:
