There is a very different noise coming from the rear of my F since shortly after I put it in for the MOT, I believe its a bit of a blowy exhaust probably following some over enthusiastic rust prodding by the tester.

Now, this is by no means scientific but I have noticed a pattern over the years...I take my car to a garage for say, an MOT. Within a week or so the exhaust is blowing, i take it to the garage they say it's rusted and needs replacing, I pay out. The last time this happened I said I wanted to see the replaced item as it was relatively new but it had been 'binned' .

I'm going to get some putty and fill the hole/s this time but is this just a female experience or can the men relate to this suspicion that their Michael is being snatched?

Ive always been told to make friends with your mechanic/mot tester then hopefully they dont take the mick !

Some garages seem to be stuck in the 70's

Ask them to return the old one at the time of booking, make sure they write it on the job card.

Lots of garages do it. I always challenge them and get them to ring me and prove whats up / wrong before shelling out.
