Door speaker woes! Recommendations? 9 years 11 months ago #142132

Hi All, I took the passenger door card off today to investigate my alarm troubles only to find that the door speaker was absolutely shot!! (I assume that the other one is not far behind). Should I replace 'like for like' from a breakers or does anyone have any recommendations for a new set up? I don't want to spend a fortune!

Applications from this IP address are limited in the number of calls they can make.Applications from this IP address are limited in the number of calls they can make.Depends what you mean by "I don't want to spend a fortune!"?
The Alpine SXE-1750S are normally at a decent price. Here's an eBay link but they can be found on the web cheaper....

And then if you want the matching rears then I'd suggest the Alpine SXE-4625S -

Good quality speakers and decent prices.

You could always just turn the stereo off and listen to the sound of the exhaust B)

Are those speakers a straight swap :broon:

You will find your current speakers have a plastic locator to hold them in place, the speaker is held into this with MG gunk! Heat the edge with a hair dryer and you can then fit any speakers of the same diameter. ;)

Well there's the answer apart from the front speakers are pop-rivited in, well on mine they are!
The ones I've quoted above are the correct sizes

mine were also pop riveted, i carefully removed pop rivets and pop riveted new speakers into the holders, i guess you could also use self tapers if you don't have access to a pop rivet gun

I'm sure Clive has done a good how to for this.
Somebody did but I can't find it.

Clive's how to is here , I used that to sort mine out....pull the foam off the speaker, drill the rivets, melt the glue, swap the speakers. There is another guide showing the metal clip version instead of rivets
